Sometimes colourful, sometimes almost monochrome, the drawings of the Spanish artist Marta Abad Blay vary greatly in colour and material, but the style is unmistakable. The lines are simple but effective and full of emotion.
As well as nature and animal protection, Marta's themes include motherhood, femininity and overcoming prejudices. The woman or girl is at the centre of attention. Often in the form of a breast, but sometimes as a whole and in motion.
The poster of the original drawing Ale shows a girl with pink cheeks with a mischievous look. Ale looks smart and cunning at the same time. Ale is drawn in blue and the pink cheeks match the pink background perfectly.
The use of materials is also interesting. Marta often uses a combination of materials such as paint, pencil, wax crayon and Ecoline marker in one drawing.
The Alice print by Marta Abad Blay is a wonderful motif for the nursery, playroom or family room. The print is also ideal as a birth gift.
